Club Grade Referee

Requirements for Qualification

To qualify as a Club Grade referee, candidates must:

·         Attend a Squash Wales Referee/Markers course.

·         Pass the referee exam

·         Be assessed during Squash Wales sanctioned tournaments

 

The Process

 

Candidates that want to become Club Grade Referees must firstly attend the Referee/Markers course that will be organised by Squash Wales and delivered by a recognised Tutor.  The course will last approximately 2-3 hours  consisting of a presentation on the basic rules and requirements of a referee.  Following attendance on a course the candidate will receive the referee exam to complete in their own time.

 

Following the course assessments can betaken at any Squash Wales sanctioned event when comfortable and confident with refereeing competitive matches.  Once  satisfied that a person is refereeing to the level expected at Club Grade the qualification card will be signed and can be sent to Squash Wales Office for certification.  This may require a number of assessments.

 

Cost:

 

£20 Payable to Squash Wales prior to attending a referee course if the cost of the course has not been covered by a club or county.  The money will include 12 months registration upon qualification as a referee and entitlement to the registered benefits that can be viewed under the “Benefits of Being Registered” section of this site.

 

County Grade Referee

Requirements for Qualification

To qualify as a County Grade referee, candidates must:

·         Acquire experience of refereeing local matches, tournaments and invited events.

·         Attend Workshops where recommended.

·         Be assessed during local matches and  tournaments.  The number of assessments will be considered by the Referee Review Panel on a candidate by candidate basis.

 

The Process

 

Following qualification as a Club Grade referee you will have actively refereed local matches and tournaments to gain experience.  This will be evidenced in your referee log which will record matches refereed.

 

 

Assessments will be made at Squash Wales sanctioned events.  The number of assessments will be considered by the Referee Review Panel on a candidate by candidate basis.  Only when a referee is consistently refereeing at the standard expected at the grade will they be passed.

 

Cost:

 

You are required to maintain your referee registration with Squash Wales at a cost of £20 per year.
